The Biennale of the Mediterranean is a chance for Genoa to experience a development and an international visibility as already happened in 2004 (European Capital of Culture) and in 1992 (EXPO for the 500th anniversary of America’s discovery).
The Biennale focus on science, thought and technology, confirming the new national and international role of Genoa city, followed by its conversion from heavy industry to technology and services.
All of this takes place in a great cultural and artistic contest and makes Genoa a very fine destination for cultural tourism, offering important opportunities for further development.
This project interests all the nord-west of Italy (Milan and Turin are involved as well) and is coherent with the Union for the Mediterranean strategy and the European Union politics in regards to its relations with non EU Mediterranean Countries.
